Rottnest Island is one of Western Australia's most popular holiday destinations.
The Island is the perfect destination for holidaymakers looking for a relaxing holiday or an exciting outing for the day. You can take time to discover your own private beach walk, enjoy a range of dining sensations or take part in a variety of recreation options all of which will guarantee a great day out.
The island is an A-Class reserve enjoying a semi-arid Mediterranean style climate. It is 11km long and 4.5km at its widest point, and is situated just 40 minutes by ferry from Hillarys Boat Harbour. Rottnest boasts some of the finest beaches and bays in the world, together with a unique style of architecture dating back to the 1800's. It has a fascinating history as an Aboriginal penal settlement, an internment camp during both World Wars, a place for salt gathering and processing and a World War II military installation. It is well known to all Western Australians as a place for recreation, being first used by governors of Western Australia as a summer residence between 1848 and 1919.

Rottnest Island Transfer Fares
Rottnest Fast Ferries depart Hillarys Boat Harbour 3 times daily, with an additional departure on Friday evenings, giving you a great variety of times through out the day to travel and return. Please ask our reservations staff about additional departures to and from the Island during School and Public Holidays. Coach Pickups are available from your accommodation in Perth City, Belmont and the Sunset Coast.

| Luggage |
Yes... There are limits on how much luggage you can take to Rottnest. The Rottnest Island Authority will supply you with 2 luggage tags per person, any additional luggage must be paid for. |
| Clothing |
We suggest casual clothing such as shorts and T-shirts during the day, as well as swimming costume, hat and sunglasses. For evenings at the Island, smart casual attire is suggested. |
